are women just as qualified to tackle a career in math and science as a man is? is there a biological difference that only allows one to do the duties it was molded to perform?
well, as much as we sit here and talk about it...the truth is we don't know. what we do know is that scientifically women have changed biologically over time. women now a day could be 6 feet 5 inches and stronger than most men....but then again these strong women are few and far between, but even so women have become bigger, faster, stronger. I know we are talking about math and science here...but when i think of a biological stand point these ideas come to mind. Women are built with many hormones to support the creation of a baby. so in regards men and women are differently. we are all wired differently, and that includes humans of the same sex...some women are good knitters, some are phenomenal athletes, some are good at building rockets. vesversa, some men are good knitters, some are phenomenal athletes, some are good at building rockets...Gotcha! see the things we do in life are not gender specific we may think they are because how we have been programed, but the truth is some people are just more geared towards math and science, sex having absolutely nothing to do with it...but the way the public perceives it is a stereotype...which is pretty bogus. people in charge may have these bias opinions and follow through making decisions based on these feelings that are in most cases false. although these are battles are being fought everyday, we must continue to prove that gender has nothing to do with one's ability to exercise an operation of any type.
I agree that everybody has their own opinion of whether or not they believe there is a biological difference. I love that you brought up the change of a woman over the years, and the different activities/ hobbies/ careers that men and women both share interest in.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about women becoming bigger, faster, and stronger. But I would say that its not women, its humans in general. The understanding of training and nutrition allow for amazing specimens of the human body. Of course, there are more women athletes today than say 30 or 40 years ago, and I think that can be attributed to confidence and perhaps women who are fueled by being told what they can't do.
